The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the central bank, which regulates the money supply and credit in the country and also controls the issue and supply of the Indian rupee. RBI was set up in 1935 under the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

 

RBI is the chief regulator of the overall banking in India. RBI plays a pivotal role in the development strategy of the Government of India. It serves as the figurehead of the banking system and the money market.

 

RBI manages the commercial bank and the non-banking finance companies working in India.

 

RBI  Exam: Grade B 

This is a very popular exam conducted for the recruitment of the Grade B officer in the Reserve Bank of India. Grade B officers is inducted in the following department :

  1. Officers in Grade B (General)
  2. Officers in Grade B (Department of Economics and Policy Research)
  3. Officers in Grade B ( Department of Statistics and Information Management)

RBI GRADE B OFFICER

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

1. Nationality 

  • The candidate must fulfill any one of the following :
  • Candidates must be a citizen of India
  • Candidates must be a citizen of India
  • Must be a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan.
  • Candidates should be Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, for settling permanently in India.
  • Candidates should be a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Myanmar, Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, Vietnam, Zaire with the motive to settle permanently in India.

2. Age Limit 

  • The age limit of the candidate must be a minimum of 21 years and must not be more than 30 years.
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes(OBC) : 3 Years

 

3. Educational Qualification 

Post Minimum Qualifications
RBI Grade B ( General) Minimum of 60% marks in Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent as well as in class 10th & 12th exam.
RBI Grade B (Department of Economics and Policy Research) A Master’s degree in Economics or Finance with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized Indian or Foreign University.
RBI Grade B ( Department of Statistics and Information Management A Master’s degree in Statistics or Mathematical Statistics/Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized Indian University.

 

Note: Number of attempts is restricted to 6 for the General category. No such restrictions are there for other categories.

The Grade B exam is conducted in three phases mentioned below :

  1. Phase 1 Examination
  2. Phase 2 Examination
  3. Phase 3 Interview

  • Candidate having work experience in RBI : 3 years

3. Educational Qualification 

Candidates should have Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (Pass marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates).

The Assistant exam is conducted in three phases mentioned below :

Phase 3: Language Proficiency Test

Phase 3: RBI Assistant Language Proficiency Test

Language Proficiency Test (LPT) is the last and final stage of the selection process.

 

The candidates who qualify for the mains examination will have to appear for the LPT. LPT will be conducted in the local or the Official Language of the state concerned.
