SAT known as The Scholastic Assessment Test is a standardized test used for taking admissions in an undergraduate course in the US.

 

It was started in the year 1926 by College Board. Formerly, this exam was named as Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). This exam was developed with an aim to evaluate the written, verbal and mathematical skills of the candidate. Anyone willing to pursue an undergraduate course mainly in the US and in Canada will have to write this exam.

 

The SAT subject test has been designed for students who are looking for courses in particular subjects like Literature, History, Mathematics, Sciences, and Foreign Languages. Candidates can take this SAT subject test to show their knowledge and understanding of that particular subject.

 

The College Board is responsible for owning, developing, and publishing the SAT exam and ETS is responsible for administering it. This is a paper-based exam and the test is scored between 200-800

There is no specified age required to appear for the exam. The age group of 17-19  are among the highest to appear for this exam. There is no minimum educational qualification needed, anyone who has passed high school or equivalent can write the exam There is no set limit for the number of attempts. One can attempt as many times as they want.

 

Registration for SAT Exam :

SAT exam registration can be done online as well as by mail. The test is conducted 7 times a year in US and 5 times a year in another country.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of SAT collegeboard.org. Create a new account or login into the already existing account.
  • Step 2: Go to Sign up
  • Step 3: Fill the SAT Application form.
  • Step 4: Select preferred available Test type, Test center, and Test Date
  • Step 5: Pay the registration fees.
  • Step 6: Take the print of the acknowledgment receipt

Steps to Register by mail  for the Exam :

Step 1: Request for SAT Student Registration booklet from College Board.

Step 2: The booklet has a registration form and returns envelope. Fill the form with all the relevant details.

Step 3: Mail the form with cheque or money order or demand draft of the application fees using the registration envelope to the below address :

Step 4: The filled-in form can also be submitted to the local representative of SAT, which is USIEF. The mailed form can be directed to their regional office.

SAT Exam Pattern:

This is a pencil paper-based test. The test pattern comprises two major sections – Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math, which are further divided into two sections each.
