CLAT is commonly known as Common Law Admission Test, are a centralized national level entrance examination for admission of candidates in Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law courses at 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and other colleges and universities. The test is taken after Higher Secondary Examination or 12th standard for Integrated under graduation programs in Law and after Graduation in Law for Master of Laws (LL.M) program.
Most of the Private and self-financed law schools in India accept this score for admission. Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) lie Coal India, ONGS, SAIL, BHEL, etc. also accept the post-graduation (CLAT-PG) scores for recruitment of legal positions.
CLAT is conducted by a permanent body formed by the Universities named as Consortium of NLUs. The Consortium has its headquarter at NLSIU Bangalore and it comprises of the following:
- An Executive Committee
- The CLAT Convenor of the current year (DNLU Jabalpur 2020)
- The CLAT Convenor of the following year
- Two co-opted Vice-Chancellors of NLU

Eligibility Criteria
Nationality:
- Indian citizens can apply for Exam
- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can apply for Exam
- Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) can apply for Exam
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) can apply for Exam
- Foreign Nationals can apply for Exam
Age limit:
There is no upper age limit set for appearing in CLAT UG and CLAT PG exams.
